Laura and AJ: Lake Taupo shorefront wedding delight

Laura and AJ: Lake Taupo shorefront wedding delight

Ahhh our last wedding of 2020 was Laura and AJ and what a seriously epic way to end the year! These two are SO gorgeous and after having an engagement shoot with them earlier in the year we knew we were gonna have a lot of fun! They opted for a first look, followed by all their photos so that by the time they got to their ceremony they could focus on just being present with their guests. And speaking of their ceremony, I think this may have been the most epic location ever, right on the Lake Taupo shorefront! The day was filled with laughter and fun which is exactly what you want from a wedding as well as a bridal party that was so on board with the wedding (and also included Laura’s 2 identical triplets!) what an awesome day celebrating a seriously great couple. Congratulations Mr and Mrs How!

Mr + Mrs Van Gaalen: A Stunning Waikato wedding

Mr + Mrs Van Gaalen: A Stunning Waikato wedding

Ahhh the stunning Waikato wedding of Liam and Amber!!! We had such high expectations for this wedding but oh my goodness, it still blew us away. The day itself was just beautiful with so many special moments of remark; Liams beautiful reaction to Amber’s entrance and the heartfelt way he included his parents and family- with video calls and speeches even though Covid got in the way of them being present in person were so sweet. Then there was the wonderful afternoon lawn games, a hilarious and fun time away with their bridal party (where Liam decided to try his hand at taking some photos of his bride!) and an evening of one of our fave sunset sessions ever, amazing speeches a moving haka and then ending the night with a group of friends who all had the same dance moves. We felt like we were on such a high, it was just such a beautiful wedding, with a seriously gorgeous couple. We have no doubt that you two will continue to grow in your love for one another and we can’t wait to see what comes next for you both.

Mr + Mrs Paikea: Dogs and dancing the best of weddings at Waikato’s Woodside Estate

Mr + Mrs Paikea: Dogs and dancing the best of weddings at Waikato’s Woodside Estate

Christie and David got married at Waikato’s Woodside estate, a stunning location for one of the most memorable weddings ever! These two are honestly the sweetest most down to earth couple, and everything in their wedding was done by them or their people- such a beautiful labour of love. These two came complete with their family of 3 dogs, who featured the entire way through the wedding, including the first dance! For us one of the best bits about this was the reception, it was just amazing, not only was their entrance awesome, but I cannot remember ever hearing speeches that illicited better reactions from guests AND bride and groom. This was followed by a seriously powerful haka which was so emotional and beautiful to see, especially watching Davids reaction! But the absolute highlight was at the end of the speeches, we had the garter removal, and first dance, and oh my days we were so surprised, David is a pretty shy guy but when music starts up this guy can dance! The best garter removal we have EVER seen followed by a gorgeous first dance of these two who were just so so in love! HUGEST congratulations you two <3

Mr + Mrs Findley: Waikato spring wedding delight

Mr + Mrs Findley: Waikato spring wedding delight

Katie and Michael had the most wonderful spring wedding that had literally all the boxes ticked. STUNNING bride, in love couple, hilarious and beautiful bridal party, people there to love and celebrate, a gorgeous venue, and amazing food. It was the bees knees. They are two of the most down to earth and humble people and it was so wonderful to witness their wedding. It was also amazing to see how actually, despite all the amazing people there, these two just wanted time together. So many special moments from the day, we hope you enjoy a look through our eyes at this your wedding:

Mr + Mrs Millar: Weddings were made to be enjoyed!

Mr + Mrs Millar: Weddings were made to be enjoyed!

I know we say it a lot, but oh man! What a wedding! I just love how each wedding is so unique and has it’s own amazingly special moments. Aaron and Michelle’s wedding was packed with these! Aaron had forged his OWN ring, incorporating his dad’s ring as part of his, and speaking of Aaron’s dad, it was a true celebration to have him at this wedding, for the entire time, so present and so involved in his own way. He had also given a really really special gift to Michelle, his now daughter-in-law who he had always loved. Secondly, Aaron and Michelle had the most amazing cars involved, one especially poignant car from a dear passed friend made a pretty epic centrepiece.  Then there was the ceremony, which though amazing, was not even remotely official. The “official” marriage happened right before the reception, standing outside and then signing on the tyre of the wedding car. Not only did Aaron and Michelle have incredible food (On a roll we are looking at you here!) but they legitimately had one of the most enjoyable, festival-feel, party receptions we have ever been to! SO much laughter, a few tears, lots of cheers, a very raucous rendition of Happy Birthday, a big cheers for a 50th wedding anniversary, Mama’s donuts and then a gorgeous first dance and amazing dance floor. I literally did not want to leave (which is why even I was cruising the dance floor with wine and donut in hand by the end of the night)  This wedding was just a whole bunch of really cool people truly enjoying celebrating Aaron and Michelle, it is easy to see how deeply you guys are cherished and loved by those you surround yourself with. Can we do it all again please!?
